Hello, I’m Ami.
I’m an Integrative Psychotherapeutic Counsellor working with adults aged 18 and over. My approach is warm, relational and grounded in the belief that people make sense. I don’t believe we need to fit ourselves into a particular theory or way of being. Instead, I believe therapy begins with curiosity—understanding how our experiences, relationships and nervous systems have shaped who we are today.
Before becoming a counsellor, I spent many years working in people-centred roles, including as a body piercer. Looking back, I can see that what I enjoyed most was never the job itself, but the privilege of meeting people from all walks of life and hearing their stories. It was those experiences that eventually led me to retrain as a psychotherapeutic counsellor.
I work in a neuro-affirming and trauma-informed way and have a particular professional interest in the relationship between neurodivergence, trauma and the nervous system. Alongside my wider counselling practice, I’m passionate about continuing my learning so that I can better understand the diverse ways people experience and make sense of the world.
Above all, I strive to create a space where you don’t need to perform, mask or have everything figured out. My hope is that you’ll feel accepted, understood and able to explore whatever has brought you to therapy at a pace that feels right for you.
I hold an Advanced Diploma and a BSc (Hons) in Integrative Psychotherapeutic Counselling and am a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP). I am fully insured and committed to ongoing professional development, regular supervision and ethical practice.
